Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly made the announcement at the weekly cabinet meeting on Tuesday.
The National Economic Development Narrative: Policies Supporting Growth and Employment represents a long-term strategy aimed at consolidating economic programmes, investment policy, and employment initiatives.
Madbouly explained that the vision “extends beyond” Egypt’s International Monetary Fund (IMF) agreement and builds on reforms undertaken in recent years.
Minister of Planning, Economic Development and International Cooperation, Rania Al-Mashat, said the strategy was developed under President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi’s guidance and focuses on five pillars: macroeconomic stability, foreign direct investment, industrial development and trade, labour market efficiency, and regional planning.
It will set measurable targets through 2030, with a longer-term outlook to 2050.
Al-Mashat described the document as flexible, to be updated regularly in line with regional and global developments.
She added that it builds on the structural reform programme launched in March 2024, which she said helped Egypt navigate recent economic challenges and leverage competitive advantages.
An IMF mission is expected to arrive in Cairo shortly to conduct the fifth and sixth reviews of Egypt’s Extended Fund Facility programme and open discussions on the first review of a newly approved $1.3 billion Resilience and Sustainability Facility.
