The Egyptian-US joint military exercise Bright Star 2025, held with the participation of 44 countries, is taking place at several naval and air bases, along with Mohamed Naguib Military Base, which is located in the city of Hammam, Marsa Matrouh Governorate.

The activities of the military drills, which will continue until 10 September, featured live ammunition firing from multiple positions, in addition to a series of short specialised courses (STX) covering countering improvised explosive devices, first aid, casualty evacuation, and counter-drone measures, according to a statement by the Egyptian military spokesman on Wednesday.

A command post exercise (CPX) was also conducted to facilitate the exchange of expertise and information and to enhance training in planning and decision-making processes, the statement read.

Participating forces further engaged in field training exercises (FTX), where the Air Force conducted combat sorties to train on air operations designed to achieve joint air superiority, the military spokesperson said.

The Naval forces carried out a range of training missions, including visit and search operations on a suspected vessel. Troops were also trained in chemical decontamination procedures.

The General Command of the Armed Forces continues to oversee the organisation and planning of the wide range of training activities, coordinating joint efforts among all participating countries to maximise the benefits of what is considered one of the largest joint land, naval, and air exercises in the region.

Involving over 8,000 troops from 14 countries, with an additional 30 states participating as observers, Bright Star 2025 reinforces multinational military cooperation. It remains one of the region’s largest and most comprehensive joint land, naval, and air exercises.
