100 Nights of Hero, a historical fantasy film written and directed by Julia Jackman, has been selected as the festival’s closing film.
The film Giant will also premiere during the event.
100 Nights of Hero
In 100 Nights of Hero, El-Masry takes on the role of Jerome in this cinematic adaptation of Isabel Greenberg’s acclaimed graphic novel.
Set in a remote castle, the film explores the upheaval caused by the arrival of a mysterious and charismatic house guest.
The film also features Emma Corrin, Maika Monroe, Nicholas Galitzine, and Richard E. Grant.
100 Nights of Hero is also being screened as the closing film of the Critics’ Week competition at the 82nd Venice Film Festival.
Giant
The new film Giant is set to hit cinemas across the UK and Europe this October, with releases in the US and the Middle East to follow shortly after.
It is inspired by the real-life story of Naseem Hamed — nicknamed Prince Naseem and Naz — a British-Yemeni boxer, his journey from humble beginnings to a world champion, and his training under Brendan Ingle, who played a crucial role in his success.
The film was written and directed by Rowan Athale and produced by Sylvester Stallone.
Giant features powerful performances from Amir El-Masry and Pierce Brosnan, alongside Mina Massoud, Austin Haynes, and Paddy Considine, among others.
Amir El-Masry
El-Masry was born in Cairo in 1990 and raised in London. His career kicked off with roles in Egyptian films, earning him Best Young Actor at the Egyptian Oscars in 2009.
He then graduated from the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art in 2013.
El-Masry appeared in Jon Stewart's debut feature Rosewater and various acclaimed TV series before his breakthrough role in The Night Manager (2016), followed by Lost in London (2017), The State (2017), and Age Before Beauty (2018).
In 2019, he landed a role in Star Wars: Episode IX - The Rise of Skywalker, and a year later in Ben Sharrock’s Limbo.
El-Masry was also cast in the fifth season of Netflix’s historical drama The Crown, where he portrayed the young Egyptian billionaire Mohamed Al-Fayed.
Other notable credits include the lead role in the first American-Saudi feature film, The Arabian Warrior.
In 2023, El-Masry appeared in two films: Club Zero by Jessica Hausner and Camera by Khalid Naqqash, establishing his strong presence in international cinema and television.
