Volleyball: Nine countries set for African Youth Championship in Cairo

Cairo will host the African Youth Volleyball Championship from 11 to 21 September at Hassan Mostafa Hall in 6th of October City, under the patronage of Minister of Youth and Sports Ashraf Sobhy.

The Egyptian Volleyball Federation, headed by Yasser Qamar, confirmed that nine countries will take part in the tournament: Egypt, Nigeria, Cameroon, Democratic Republic of Congo, Morocco, Rwanda, Tunisia, Zimbabwe, and South Sudan, who are making their first-ever appearance in a continental sporting event.

The delegations will begin arriving in Cairo on 11 September, while the opening ceremony will be held on 13 September, coinciding with the start of the matches.

The federation assigned Mona Abdel Karim, the federation’s treasurer, as chairwoman of the organising committee, while Hassan Abed, the federation’s executive director and national teams director, was appointed as tournament director. Egypt’s delegation will be headed by Vice President of the Federation Major General Khaled Abu Zeina.

The organising committee decided that spectator attendance will be limited to federation card holders and official invitations only.
