Israeli warplanes struck a building in the Qatar capital of Doha in an assassination attempt on the Hamas Gaza ceasefire negotiating team.
A Hamas source told Al Jazeera that the negotiating team survived the attack. The source told Al Jazeera that the leadership was discussing the latest proposal from the Trump administration for a ceasefire in the Gaza war.
Palestine
The Palestinian news agency WAFA reported that “Hussein al-Sheikh, Vice President of the State of Palestine and Vice President of the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization, condemned the "heinous Israeli aggression that targeted the sisterly State of Qatar.”
"This aggression constitutes a serious violation of international law and the sovereignty of the State of Qatar, and is considered a threat to security and stability in the region.”
Saudi Arabia
Saudi Arabia condemned what it called a “brutal Israeli aggression” and a “blatant violation” of Qatar’s sovereignty, expressing full solidarity with Doha, the official Saudi Press Agency reported.
The kingdom said it stood ready to place “all its capabilities” at Qatar’s disposal to support any measures it may take in response.
Riyadh also warned of the “grave consequences” of Israel’s ongoing attacks, accusing it of violating international law and undermining regional security and stability.
The statement urged the international community to condemn the “heinous aggression” and to act to halt Israeli violations.
Morocco
Morocco has joined other countries in strongly condemning Israel’s strike on Qatari territory earlier today.
In a statement, Morocco’s Foreign Affairs Ministry described the Israeli strike as heinous. It also firmly denounced the attack’s violation of Qatar’s sovereignty.
The message further reaffirmed that Rabat stands in full solidarity with Qatar in the face of “anything that may undermine its security, territorial integrity, and the safety of its citizens and residents.”
Syria
The Syrian Foreign Ministry says the strikes on Doha reflect Israel’s disregard for international laws and norms.
“Syria expresses its strong condemnation of the Israeli aggression targeting the Qatari capital, Doha, and affirms its full solidarity with the State of Qatar, its leadership, government and people,” the ministry said.
United Arab Emirates
In the United Arab Emirates, Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan “strongly condemned the blatant and cowardly Israeli aggression that targeted the sisterly State of Qatar, stressing that this reckless attack constitutes a flagrant violation of the sovereignty of the State of Qatar, a grave assault on international law and the Charter of the United Nations, and an irresponsible escalation that threatens regional and international security and stability.”
He expressed “the UAE’s full solidarity with the sisterly State of Qatar, and its steadfast support for all that would protect its security and the safety of its citizens and residents.”
The Emirati foreign minister further warned that “the continuation of such escalatory acts would undermine regional security and drag the region into dangerous paths that would have catastrophic repercussions for international peace and security.”
Kuwait
Kuwait’s Foreign Ministry, in a statement, expressed “the State of Kuwait’s strong condemnation and denunciation of the brutal aggression against the sisterly State of Qatar, by the oppressive Israeli forces.”
It said “this blatant Israeli aggression constitutes a flagrant violation of all international laws and norms, and a serious threat to the security and stability of the region, and a direct undermining of international peace and security.”
Kuwait renewed its call “for the Security Council to assume its responsibilities in safeguarding international peace and security, and to take serious and effective steps to stop Israel’s systematic aggression against the region’s states.”
The ministry added that Kuwait “fully supports the sisterly State of Qatar in the measures it takes to preserve its security, stability and sovereignty, and to safeguard the safety of citizens and residents on its land.”
Jordan
Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi condemned “in the strongest terms the cowardly Israeli aggression against the sisterly State of Qatar,” calling it a “flagrant breach of international law and a serious threat to the security of the Qatari people and residents in Qatar.”
He said Israel’s “brutal aggressiveness threatens the security and stability of the entire region,” adding:
“Our security is one, and we stand fully with our brothers in Qatar, in any steps they take against this aggression and to protect their security, stability, and sovereignty.”
Safadi warned that Israel “will continue its aggressiveness and wars, its violations of international law, and its threat to regional and international peace and security, unless the international community — especially the Security Council — takes the necessary steps to deter it and curb its aggression.”
Iraq
Iraq’s Foreign Ministry said it “strongly condemns and denounces the Israeli entity’s attack targeting Hamas leaders in the Qatari capital, Doha,” describing it as a “cowardly act that represents a blatant violation of the sovereignty and territory of the sisterly State of Qatar, and a threat to its security and stability.”
The ministry said the strike “comes in the context of the occupation’s continued policy of systematic killing and displacement against the Palestinian people, which exposes regional and international peace and security to further tension and escalation.”
Iraq reiterated its “firm stance in standing by the government and people of Qatar and its full support in confronting any attacks that affect its sovereignty or threaten its national security,” and stressed the need for the international community to “assume its responsibilities in putting an end to these aggressive practices.”
Arab League
Arab League Secretary General Ahmed Aboul Gheit also “condemned in the strongest terms the attack launched and claimed by Israel against civilian residential buildings in Doha, the capital of the State of Qatar.”
His spokesperson Gamal Roshdy, stated: “This targeting is a flagrant and totally unacceptable violation of the sovereignty of the State of Qatar, which since the beginning of the war on Gaza has worked, together with Egypt and the United States, to mediate a ceasefire and has exerted commendable and sincere efforts to end the genocide that Israel continues to wage in Gaza.”
He added that “the Arab League stands in solidarity with the State of Qatar against this blatant assault on its sovereignty, and in any measures it takes to protect its sovereignty and safeguard its security.”
Roshdy stressed that “Israeli behavior has become outside every settled international norm, and all the meanings of international law, which places a confirmed responsibility on the international community in dealing with this state that mocks the law and disregards the consequences of its disgraceful actions.”
Oman
The Omani foreign ministry expressed “solidarity with the State of Qatar, its leadership, government and people,” while voicing its “strong condemnation of Israel’s brutal attack on Qatari territory.”
It said Israel’s actions amounted to “political assassinations and treachery” and were a “flagrant violation of international law and an egregious breach of state sovereignty.”
Iran
Iran also denounced the strike, calling it a grave violation of Qatar’s sovereignty.
Foreign ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baqaei wrote on Telegram that “this action by the Israeli regime is a continuation of the crimes it has committed by violating all norms and international rules.”
He said, “this action is extremely dangerous and criminal; a blatant violation of all international laws and regulations, an infringement of Qatar’s national sovereignty and territorial integrity, and an attack on Palestinian negotiators.”
Turkey
Turkey condemned Israel’s strike in the Qatari capital that targeted a Hamas delegation engaged in ceasefire talks, calling it proof that "Israel is intent on continuing the war.
“We strongly denounce Israel’s attack targeting the Hamas negotiating delegation in Doha, the capital of Qatar,” the foreign ministry said in a statement. “Targeting the Hamas delegation while ceasefire negotiations are ongoing clearly demonstrates that Israel seeks not peace, but the continuation of war.”
Pakistan
Pakistan's Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif strongly condemned Israeli attacks on Doha.
Sharif said “I strongly condemn the unlawful and heinous bombing in Doha by Israeli forces, targeting a residential area, and endangering the lives of innocent civilians.
Sharif mentioned on his X account ”on behalf of the people and Government of Pakistan as well as on my own behalf, Our deepest sympathies and solidarity are with the Amir, His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the Qatari Royal Family, as well as the people of Qatar at this difficult time."
