“Egypt national team doctor Mohamed Abou Elela revealed that Marmoush’s injury is a knock on his knee ligament,” the EFA said in a statement.

The EFA added in their statement that the 26-year-old will undergo scans after returning to Cairo on Wednesday.

Marmoush was forced off in the opening minutes of the Group A match and was replaced by Osama Faisal.

Egypt top the group with 20 points, five ahead of second-placed Burkina Faso, and need just one point from their remaining two matches to secure progression.
