The event runs through 16 September at the Egypt International Exhibition Centre and will spotlight the latest farming technologies and ways to boost agricultural exports.
The Egyptian Ministry of Agriculture and Land Reclamation described the expo as the largest of its kind in Africa and the Middle East.
During the opening ceremony, Minister of Agriculture Alaa Farouk highlighted the exhibition’s role in presenting the latest irrigation systems and other farming innovations.
He also noted that such events are crucial for attracting foreign investment and creating jobs for young people.
This 37th edition of the expo aims to support the government’s goal of raising agricultural exports to $12 billion by 2025, said Hani Khafagi, the event’s general manager.
Egypt’s agricultural sector has expanded significantly over the past decade, with exports doubling from 4 million tons in 2014 to more than 8.6 million tons in 2024.
These exports reached 167 countries and included more than 405 different products.
In 2024, the sector’s exports exceeded $4 billion, and officials expect at least 10 percent growth in 2025.
Minister Farouk also reaffirmed the government’s commitment to shifting toward smart, sustainable agriculture that meets international standards, including the European Union’s Green Strategy.
This shift, he said, will help Egyptian products gain wider access to global markets.
