The data was published during the four-day state visit of King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia of Spain, which will conclude on Friday.
Egypt’s exports to Spain dropped to $712 million in the 1H of 2025, compared to $803.1 million a year earlier. Imports from Spain, however, rose to $802 million from $782.6 million in the same period of 2024.
Egypt’s main exports to Spain included fertilizers ($105 million), ready-made garments ($102 million), vegetables and fruits ($73 million), plastics ($60.4 million), and mineral fuels and oils ($42.7 million).
Key imports from Spain included copper and related products ($133.9 million), electrical and mechanical appliances ($105.6 million), cars and tractors ($74.3 million), pharmaceuticals ($61 million), and iron and steel ($47.4 million).
The report also showed that Spanish investments in Egypt stood at $61.4 million in 1H of FY2024/2025, which ended in June 2025, compared to $62.2 million during the same period of FY2023/2024.
Egyptian investments in Spain fell to $28.9 million from $38.1 million.
Remittances from Egyptians working in Spain rose to $21.6 million in FY2023/2024, up from $18.9 million in FY2022/2023. Remittances from Spaniards working in Egypt also increased, reaching $4.9 million compared to $3.8 million in FY2022/2023.
The Egyptian-Spanish business forum commenced in Cairo on Thursday, where several bilateral agreements are expected to be signed. Among these is the landmark agreement the two sides inked for a development partnership through 2030.
