Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Ambassador Tamim Khalaf said Abdelatty praised the “long-standing and distinguished” ties between Cairo and Berlin and commended Germany’s support for Egypt’s national development agenda.
Abdelatty reaffirmed Cairo’s commitment to deepening cooperation with Berlin in areas including energy, migration, vocational training, African development, and investment partnerships, noting that Egypt’s ongoing economic reforms are designed to attract greater foreign investment.
He also emphasized the importance of Egypt-Germany debt-swap agreements, which convert bilateral debt into development projects and have become a key tool in advancing Egypt’s sustainable development goals.
The two ministers reviewed preparations for the International Conference on Early Recovery and Reconstruction, which Egypt will host to mobilize international support for Palestinians and coordinate post-war rebuilding in Gaza.
Abdelatty said the conference aims to unify humanitarian and reconstruction efforts within the Arab-Islamic framework and in line with international partners' Middle East peace initiatives.
He expressed Egypt’s hope that Germany will play an active role in the event as a co-host, stressing the need for the international community to act decisively to end the suffering of Palestinians and address Gaza’s worsening humanitarian crisis.
