Ambassador of Turkey to Egypt Salih Mutlu Şen with members of the displaced Palestinian families
The Embassy of Turkey in Cairo, in cooperation with the Embassy of the State of Palestine and the Humanitarian Relief Foundation (IHH), organised a solidarity event titled Long Live Gaza on 5 November to support Palestinian families affected by the ongoing humanitarian crisis.
Held at the residence of the Turkish Ambassador, the event welcomed around 300 guests from 170 Palestinian families currently residing in Egypt. Participants received financial and food assistance, while nearly 100 journalists, influencers, and artists from Egypt and Palestine attended in a show of solidarity.
The evening opened with a recitation from the Holy Qur’an by Sheikh Yasser Abdel-Basit, son of the late renowned reciter Sheikh Abdel-Basit Abdel-Samad, offered in tribute to the victims in Gaza.
In his remarks, Ambassador of Turkey to Egypt Salih Mutlu Şen reaffirmed Turkey’s unwavering commitment to delivering humanitarian aid, consolidating the ceasefire, and contributing to Gaza’s reconstruction.

Şen highlighted Turkey’s active role in the peace plan signed in Sharm El-Sheikh on 13 October 2025 alongside Egypt, the United States, and Qatar, stressing Ankara’s determination to continue its efforts to achieve peace and stability.
The ambassador praised President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi for what he described as a “historic mission” in hosting the Sharm El-Sheikh Peace Summit, noting that the initiative represented “a real opportunity for sustainable peace and reconstruction.”
He announced that Turkey continues to provide humanitarian, health, and housing support to Palestinians in Egypt and Gaza through partnerships with official and civil organisations in both countries. He also revealed that the Turkish Embassy in Cairo has, to date, hosted more than 1,000 displaced Gazans as part of its solidarity efforts, pledging to maintain both material and moral support.
Şen further commended the Palestinian Embassy’s efforts to facilitate the return of Gazans to their homeland, expressing satisfaction with the strong response to the initiative and encouraging eligible families to return “as soon as possible.”
Turning to Egypt’s recent milestones, Ambassador Şen described the opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM) as a “historic turning point”, noting that October has long been a month of victories and accomplishments for Egypt.
He also conveyed remarks by Turkish Minister of Culture and Tourism Mehmet Nuri Ersoy, who hailed the Grand Egyptian Museum as “Egypt’s modern pyramid” — a symbol of the nation’s renewed cultural and civilisational strength.
“Turkey, as a sister nation to Egypt, welcomes these achievements with gratitude and pride,” Şen said, adding that Ankara is committed to deepening cooperation with Cairo in culture, the arts, industry, trade, and technology.
Palestinian Ambassador Diab Allouh expressed his gratitude to President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and the Turkish Embassy in Cairo for their steadfast support, reaffirming the Palestinian people’s determination to return to their homeland.

The event also featured an exhibition by Palestinian artist Faiza Youssef Al-Radi, a mother of triplets displaced from Gaza. Ambassador Şen invited her to the stage, encouraging Egyptian artists and cultural institutions to support her work and that of other Palestinian artists.
