During the meeting, El-Muslimani affirmed that the revival of Maspero includes restoring Egypt’s international TV service, noting that efforts are underway to develop foreign-language broadcasting on the channel.

This, he noted, comes in parallel with televising Egypt’s directed radio services, which broadcast in 23 languages.

El-Muslimani further emphasized that the strategic objective is to eventually offer elements of Egypt’s international TV service and digital platforms in 100 languages.

According to the National Media Authority’s statement, the channel’s development team has proposed renaming the channel to “Egypt News Network” (ENN) and adopting a new logo inspired by the colours of the Egyptian flag.

This proposal is part of a broader vision for modernizing the channel’s format, content, and overall presentation.

For her part, Osman revealed the professional reasons behind changing the channel’s name, logo, and programming grid, citing shifts in the channel’s media mission and its target audiences in English and French.

She explained that the proposal aims to regain viewership following a noticeable decline in ratings, despite the strong success the channel achieved upon its launch. Another reason for the change is to avoid confusion between Nile TV and Nile News.

Osman added that names like ENN and ENC had been suggested in past development proposals.

The Nile TV head said that many media experts inside and outside Maspero had been consulted on the channel’s overhaul before submitting the proposal. She stressed that the team is ready to work under any name or logo and that the channel's leadership supports innovation and renewal.

A final decision from the National Media Authority is pending on whether to keep the name Nile TV or adopt the proposed ENN name, she confirmed.

Maspero is Egypt’s historic state media complex in Cairo, home to national television and radio since the 1960s.

Recent development efforts focus on modernising its facilities and restructuring operations, as part of President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi’s vision to extend Egypt’s media outreach beyond its borders and restore the influence of the country’s soft power.
