The ACC has long served as a link between Egyptians and Americans, contributing to the enduring partnership between the two countries, which supports regional stability and shared prosperity.
The celebration took place on 25 November at the American Centre in Cairo. It was attended by Minister of Youth and Sports Ashraf Sobhy and Governor of Luxor Engineer Abdel-Muttalib Emara.
Since its establishment in 1955, the ACC has provided generations of Egyptians with access to resources and programmes that promote learning, entrepreneurship, and innovation.
Its services, from language training to technology skills, have helped visitors build new capabilities, expand professional networks, and achieve personal and career growth.
The event also recognized the ACC’s partnerships with the Egyptian Society for Culture and Development (ESCD), Amideast, the American University in Cairo (AUC), Misr Public Library, and other local and international partners.
These collaborations support the centre’s mission and help extend its reach across Egypt.
“For 70 years, the American Centre Cairo has brought Egyptians and Americans closer together,” said Ambassador Garg at the event.
“And tonight, the ACC is the launchpad for our historic America250 campaign. We look forward to working closely with our Egyptian friends in the public and private sector to celebrate American excellence and underscore the deep and abiding U.S.-Egypt relationship in fields as diverse as trade, education, security, and sports,” she added.
America250 will showcase 250 years of American achievements, innovation, and values, while also celebrating more than a century of friendship and cooperation between Egypt and the United States.
The America250 activities will continue on 5 December with an event in Cairo jointly hosted by the United States, Mexico, and Canada to mark the draw for the FIFA World Cup 2026, which will be held at the John F. Kennedy Centre for the Performing Arts in Washington, DC.
On 6 December, the US embassy will bring America250 commemorations to Luxor for the opening of a new American Corner at the Misr Public Library, the embassy’s first programme hub in Upper Egypt.
The embassy will also host a “Pop-Up USA” cultural and educational fair on the same day in front of Luxor Temple.
