According to the Egyptian Foreign Ministry, Abdelatty expressed Egypt’s appreciation for its historic relations with Pakistan as well as Cairo’s pride in the notable progress witnessed in bilateral ties between both countries.
The Egyptian FM looked forward to enhancing political, military, security, religious, and cultural cooperation with Pakistan in 2026.
He affirmed Egypt's interest in expanding cooperation with Pakistan in the areas of economy, trade, and investment. He also emphasized increasing trade exchange volume between Egypt and Pakistan to reflect the great potential of both countries.
Moreover, Abdelatty outlined the economic reforms the Egyptian government implemented in recent years. He also looked forward to activating Egypt and Pakistan's Joint Business Council, as well as that between the chambers of commerce of both countries, soon.
In addition, the Egyptian FM stated that Egypt was keen on exploring opportunities to link Egypt’s Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZone) and Pakistan’s Gwadar Port, including through localizing value-added industries within the zone.
He also affirmed Egypt's continued cooperation with Pakistan within the D-8 Group, whose presidency Egypt assumed in December 2024.
Regarding developments in the Middle East, the Egyptian FM addressed the situation in Gaza, where he stressed the importance of implementing UN Security Council Resolution 2803, as well as proceeding with the second phase of US President Donald Trump’s peace plan.
He underscored the need to enable the International Stabilization Force to carry out its mandate to consolidate the ceasefire. He also outlined the preparations underway for the international conference on early recovery and reconstruction in Gaza.
For his part, the Pakistani president praised the constructive and effective role Egypt plays in supporting security and stability in the Middle East, affirming his country’s desire to continue strengthening bilateral cooperation in all fields.
Earlier on Sunday, the Egyptian FM, who is officially visiting Islamabad, met with his Pakistani counterpart, Ishaq Dar. The two sides discussed strengthening ties between Egypt and Pakistan and exchanged views on regional and global developments.
