Egypt’s ambassador to France presents credentials to UNESCO director-general
Egypt’s new Ambassador to France, Tarek Dahroug, has presented his credentials to Khaled El-Anany, the first Arab and Egyptian Director-General of the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), formally assuming his post as Egypt’s permanent representative to the organization.
The ceremony took place in Paris, followed by a meeting in which the two discussed ways to strengthen cooperation between Egypt and UNESCO in the coming period.
Dahroug noted the significance of presenting his credentials to the first Egyptian to lead the organisation. The meeting also touched on coordination between UNESCO and Egyptian state bodies, in line with directives from President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi, the Foreign Ministry said.
El-Anany expressed appreciation for the ministry’s support since he announced his candidacy nearly three years ago and said he looked forward to expanding cooperation across UNESCO’s areas of work.
