The Egyptian national team, led by coach Hossam Hassan, departed for Morocco on Wednesday for their final preparations ahead of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
The 35th edition of the tournament, hosted by Morocco from 21 December 2025 to 18 January 2026, will feature 24 nations competing for continental supremacy.
The Pharaohs, drawn in Group B alongside Angola, South Africa, and Zimbabwe, will base their operations in the Moroccan coastal city of Agadir, which will host the group matches, as they pursue their historic eighth AFCON title, having last lifted the trophy in 2010.
Egypt will kick off their campaign against Zimbabwe on 22 December, then face South Africa on 26 December before concluding the group stage against Angola three days later.
The squad are bolstered by the arrival of European-based stars, including Liverpool talisman Mohamed Salah and Manchester City forward Omar Marmoush, who have both joined the delegation.
Head coach Hossam Hassan retained all 28 players from his preliminary list in the final squad for Africa’s premier international competition, with the Egyptian Football Association (EFA) board member Hamada El-Sherbeni heading the delegation.

The Pharaohs travell in a confident mood, having wrapped up their domestic preparations with a 2-1 friendly victory over Nigeria at Cairo International Stadium on Tuesday, providing a timely morale boost ahead of their quest for continental glory.
