Abdelatty discussed developments in Syria with Fidan, stressing the need to reduce tensions and prioritize dialogue as the only path to stability.

Abdelatty expressed Cairo’s rejection of any practices that compromise the security of civilians, the statement pointed out.

He emphasized the importance of advancing a comprehensive and sustainable political solution in Syria, which shall preserve the Syrian state’s unity and territorial integrity, while meeting the aspirations of the Syrian people.

The call also addressed the situation in the Gaza Strip, where the Egyptian FM underscored the necessity to consolidate the ceasefire and transition to the second phase of the Sharm El-Sheikh peace agreement.

Abdelatty further stressed the importance of establishing a temporary Palestinian technocratic committee to manage the daily affairs of citizens in the strip, as a step toward the Palestinian Authority’s resumption of assuming its full powers and responsibilities.

He emphasized the necessity of deploying an international stabilization force and initiating early recovery and reconstruction efforts.

Additionally, the Egyptian FM expressed Cairo’s full rejection of any measures or practices that could undermine the unity of Palestinian territories, including Israel’s ongoing violations in the West Bank.

Abdelatty and Fidan agreed to continue consultation on various regional and global issues of mutual concern, including developments in the Eastern Mediterranean, the statement added.

Erdoğan's visit to Cairo

According to the Egyptian foreign ministry, the call also touched on ways to strengthen bilateral relations as well as the ongoing arrangements for Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s upcoming visit to Egypt in early 2026.

The visit, the ministry said, will see President Erdoğan co-chairing with President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi the second meeting of the Egypt-Turkey High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council.

Abdelatty noted the significance of the upcoming visit for building on the momentum in Egyptian–Turkish ties in the recent period, as well as contributing to supporting economic cooperation, increasing trade exchange, and encouraging mutual investments.
