Egypt defence minister, military leaders visit Pope Tawadros II to offer Christmas greetings
Defence Minister General Abdel Mageed Saqr, accompanied by Armed Forces Chief of Staff Lieutenant General Ahmed Khalifa, senior commanders of the main branches, and other Armed Forces leaders, visited St. Mark’s Cathedral in Abbassia to congratulate Pope Tawadros II, Pope of Alexandria and Patriarch of the See of St. Mark, on Christmas.

Minister Saqr said celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ revives the values of love, tolerance, and peace promoted by the heavenly religions, spreading goodness and rejecting extremism.
He emphasized that the unity of Egypt’s national fabric is the true foundation of the nation’s strength and civilizational legacy, noting that Coptic members of the Armed Forces set outstanding examples of sacrifice and dedication alongside their Muslim colleagues in defending Egypt’s security and stability.
For his part, Pope Tawadros II expressed his pride in and appreciation for the Armed Forces, describing them as the nation’s safeguard through their efforts and sacrifices to protect Egypt’s people and resources.
He said the visit reflects the true meaning of national cohesion, highlighting that Egyptians live in a homeland that unites its citizens under one banner of love and collective work for the nation’s progress.
