The ceremony was attended by current Minister of Defence and Military Production Ashraf Salem Zahir, Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces Ahmed Khalifa, commanders of the main branches of the Armed Forces, and several senior military leaders.
The event included the screening of a documentary highlighting Saqr’s achievements during his tenure as defence minister, according to the Egyptian presidency.
In his speech, Minister Zahir praised Saqr’s dedication and efforts in serving the country, noting that the Armed Forces’ tradition of service continues across generations, with each building on the achievements of those before them to maintain high levels of readiness and combat capability.
For his part, Saqr expressed deep gratitude to President El-Sisi and the General Command of the Armed Forces for the honour, wishing his successor success in carrying the “sacred responsibility.”
He affirmed that the Armed Forces will always remain a unique model of dedication and loyalty in safeguarding the homeland and preserving its capabilities.
President El-Sisi also praised Saqr’s national efforts and integrity in performing his duties to protect Egypt’s soil, stressing that the men of the Armed Forces have consistently risen to their responsibilities across generations.
The president underlined that Egypt’s strength lies in the cohesion of its institutions and the dedication of its leaders working in unity for the nation’s advancement.
He also commended the Armed Forces for their role in protecting Egypt’s national security on all fronts, as well as their support for state institutions in improving citizens’ living conditions and building a better future for the coming generations.
During the ceremony, President El-Sisi awarded Saqr the Order of the Republic, First Class, in recognition of his contributions.
At the conclusion of the event, the president approved Saqr’s appointment as assistant to the president.
