El-Sisi, Chad’s Mahamat Idriss Déby discuss Sudan crisis at Nairobi summit

President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi and Chadian President Mahamat Idriss Déby discussed the latest developments in Sudan and wider regional security challenges during talks held on Tuesday on the sidelines of the Africa–France Summit in Nairobi.

According to the Egyptian presidency, the two leaders exchanged views on regional crises and stressed the importance of preserving national institutions in countries facing instability, amid ongoing challenges across the region, particularly in Sudan.

The talks also addressed efforts to resolve regional conflicts through peaceful means in a manner that safeguards the sovereignty of states and protects the resources and interests of their peoples.

The meeting further reviewed ways to strengthen bilateral relations between Egypt and Chad across political, economic, trade, and development fields, the statement added.

El-Sisi reaffirmed Egypt’s commitment to advancing cooperation with Chad and building on the outcomes of the joint committee meetings held in Cairo in November 2025.

For his part, Déby stressed Chad’s keenness to deepen cooperation with Egypt, particularly in trade, investment, infrastructure, and healthcare.
