Zamalek clinched their 15th league crown on Wednesday with a 1-0 victory over Ceramica Cleopatra FC, just four days after losing the CAF Confederation Cup final to Algerian side USM Alger.

"I thank the players, who managed to bounce back quickly from the disappointment of losing the Confederation Cup final," Gamal told reporters after the match.

"I am sorry for losing the final, but nobody knows the difficulties the team faced."

"Most of the players featured during the final phase of the season while carrying injuries," he added.

The 53-year-old coach also praised several youth players who stepped in during the closing stages of the campaign despite playing out of position.

Midfielder Mohamed El-Sayed, fullback Mohamed Ibrahim and defender El-Sayed Ossama all started against Ceramica Cleopatra.

Ossama was drafted into the starting lineup at the last minute after defender Mahmoud Hamdi failed a medical test because of a knee injury.

Other youth players, including Ahmed Abdel-Rehim, Youssef Wael and Ahmed El-Khodari, also played important roles during the season.

"These players represent the future of Zamalek and they showed strong character and performances," Gamal said.
