The inaugural flight ceremony in Cairo was attended by EgyptAir Holding Company Chairman Ahmed Adel, acting US chargé d’affaires in Cairo Ruben Harutunian, US Customs and Border Protection regional attaché Margon Benguli, and EgyptAir Airlines Chairman Mohamed Alyan, who commanded the flight.
The new route adds Los Angeles to EgyptAir’s long-haul destinations and marks the carrier’s latest expansion in the US market, with the airline also preparing to launch flights to Chicago.

Ahmed Adel said the Los Angeles route is part of EgyptAir’s strategy to expand its international network and strengthen its global presence.
He said the airline would operate the route using newly added aircraft from its fleet, describing the move as part of efforts to improve passenger comfort on long-haul flights while reducing fuel consumption and carbon emissions.
Adel said the route is expected to serve Egyptian and Arab communities across the western United States while supporting tourism, trade and investment between Egypt and the US.
“We are pleased to see EgyptAir expanding its services to include more destinations in the United States, including today’s inaugural flight to Los Angeles and the upcoming route to Chicago,” Harutunian said.
“Los Angeles is a vital gateway to the western United States, and this new route will strengthen connectivity between Egypt and one of America’s most dynamic regions. We look forward to the opportunities these air links will create for travelers and businesses in both our countries.”

Passengers on the inaugural flight received commemorative gifts and flowers marking the launch of the route.
EgyptAir has been expanding its international operations as Egypt pushes to strengthen tourism and aviation connectivity amid broader efforts to position Cairo as a regional transport hub.
