Egypt is expected to see mostly stable weather conditions during the Eid Al-Adha holiday period, with hot weather in Cairo and the Nile Delta, milder temperatures along the Mediterranean coast, and intense heat in the south, according to forecasts issued by the Egyptian Meteorological Authority (EMA).

The six-day forecast, covering Monday through Saturday, suggests that the weather is unlikely to disrupt Eid travel and outdoor activities.

Eid Al-Adha marks the start of one of the busiest domestic travel periods of the year, with millions travelling to coastal resorts, family gatherings, and tourist destinations.

This year’s forecast points to relatively moderate weather along the coast compared with inland governorates, which could boost travel to North Coast resorts and Red Sea destinations.

Temperatures in Greater Cairo are expected to range between 30 and 32 degrees Celsius, with nighttime lows around 19-20 °C, while the Nile Delta and northern Upper Egypt will see similarly hot daytime conditions.

Northern coastal cities are forecast to remain milder, with highs between 24 and 28 °C and relatively high humidity.

In contrast, Egypt's deep south is expected to experience severe heat throughout the holiday week, with temperatures climbing to 37-38 °C during daytime hours. The South Sinai and Red Sea areas, popular destinations during Eid vacations, are forecast to reach highs of 33-34 °C, accompanied by active northwesterly winds.

The EMA said morning fog could become dense at times on roads leading to and from Greater Cairo, the Canal cities, central Sinai, and northern Upper Egypt, particularly during early morning hours.

Authorities also warned of intermittent wind activity across many regions, with stronger gusts possible in exposed southern areas and around the Red Sea, potentially causing blowing sand and dust in some locations.

The forecast also indicated a slight chance of light rain over parts of the northern coast and the northern Delta early in the week, with no severe weather expected.

Hotels and tourism operators typically monitor weather conditions closely because mild coastal temperatures often lead to higher occupancy rates during holiday periods.
