Egypt-US coordination key to Middle East peace: El-Sisi to US Jewish delegation

Close Egypt-US coordination is essential for promoting peace and stability in the Middle East and addressing shared challenges, particularly terrorism and extremist ideology, President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi said on Tuesday during a meeting in Cairo with a delegation from the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations.

According to the Egyptian presidency, General Intelligence Service Director Hassan Rashad attended the meeting with a delegation led by Chair of the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations Elizabeth Berns Korn and CEO William Daroff.

During the meeting, President El-Sisi reaffirmed Egypt’s appreciation for its strategic relationship with the United States and stressed the importance of further strengthening cooperation in political, economic, and investment fields.

The meeting also addressed the latest regional developments and Egypt’s vision for achieving regional stability, the presidency added. 

In this context, El-Sisi highlighted Egypt’s efforts to de-escalate ongoing tensions and support the current US-Iran negotiations aimed at resolving the crisis and avoiding its regional and global economic and political consequences.

Addressing the Palestinian cause, the president reiterated the need for a comprehensive and just settlement based on international resolutions and the two-state solution.

"Such a solution remains the only way to achieve lasting peace and stability in the Middle East," ​El-Sisi said, stressing that the Palestinian issue remains the central cause of the Arab world.

For their part, the delegation members expressed their deep appreciation for their visit to Egypt and for meeting President El-Sisi.

They also praised the strategic bilateral relationship between Egypt and the US, reaffirming the centrality of Egyptian-American relations and the ongoing coordination between the two countries to preserve regional peace.

The delegation members also praised President El-Sisi’s vision for achieving stability in the Middle East and commended Egypt’s efforts to promote peace and security across the region.
