According to the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the message expressed Egypt’s appreciation for the progress made in bilateral relations between the two countries.
During the meeting, FM Abdelatty praised President Lee’s visit to Cairo in November 2025, describing it as an important step in strengthening bilateral ties. He also expressed hope for increased high-level visits in the coming period to further expand cooperation between the two countries.
The foreign minister said his visit to Seoul aims to build on the positive momentum in bilateral relations, which he described as a successful model of cooperation, reaffirming Cairo’s commitment to strengthening economic and investment ties.
He highlighted investment opportunities in Egypt and invited South Korean companies to expand their investments and participate in major national projects, stressing the government’s commitment to providing incentives for South Korean investors.
Abdelatty also called for deeper cooperation with South Korea in areas such as artificial intelligence, advanced technology, digital transformation, innovation, and the green transition.
He praised the Korea-Africa partnership as a successful model of cooperation, noting that Egypt serves as a key gateway to Africa and expressing Egypt’s interest in expanding cooperation between South Korea and African countries across multiple sectors.
Abdelatty also said he looks forward to the next Korea-Africa Summit in 2029, saying it would build on growing momentum in relations and further strengthen political and economic ties.
For his part, the South Korean president expressed his deep appreciation for the long-standing and steadily growing relationship between Cairo and Seoul, reaffirming his commitment to expanding cooperation across various fields.
Lee also praised Egypt’s continued efforts to de-escalate tensions and support regional security and stability.
Abdelatty’s meeting with the South Korean leader took place during his visit to Seoul for the Korea-Africa Ministerial Meeting, where he also held several meetings with senior South Korean officials to discuss ways of strengthening cooperation.
