The Egyptian Red Crescent (ERC) dispatched its 207th "Zad Al-Izza... From Egypt to Gaza" convoy early on Tuesday, carrying 2,415 tonnes of humanitarian aid, including food supplies, charitable meat donations, medical equipment, relief materials, fuel, clothing, and tents for Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, the organization said.

The convoy, comprising several trucks bound for Gaza, was launched as part of the ERC's role as Egypt's national mechanism for coordinating humanitarian assistance to the war-ravaged enclave.

The aid shipment included food baskets, medical supplies, relief materials, and petroleum products intended to help operate hospitals and other critical facilities across the strip.

The ERC said it also reinforced support for displaced Palestinians by providing clothing and tents to help shelter families affected by the ongoing conflict and humanitarian crisis.

The organization has maintained a presence at the border since the outbreak of the war, noting that the Rafah crossing has remained open from the Egyptian side. It added that it continues to operate at full readiness across its logistics centers to facilitate the delivery of humanitarian and relief assistance into Gaza.

The latest aid convoy comes as Palestinian rights groups warn of worsening conditions for Palestinian women held in Israeli prisons.

The Palestinian Prisoners' Society (PPS) said on Tuesday that the number of female Palestinian detainees had risen to 89 following the arrest of four young women, including three minors, with detainees also including three pregnant women, 19 administrative detainees held without charge or trial, and two cancer patients.

The organization said most female prisoners are being held in Damon Prison under what it described as increasingly harsh conditions, including food deprivation, medical neglect, solitary confinement, overcrowding, repeated abuse, and humiliating searches.

It added that some detainees have been forced to sleep on the floor due to a lack of space.

According to the PPS, Israeli authorities have arrested more than 760 Palestinian women since the outbreak of the war in Gaza in October 2023, while the overall number of Palestinians currently held in Israeli prisons exceeds 9,600, including around 350 children and 90 women.

Palestinian human rights organizations have repeatedly raised concerns over alleged torture, denial of medical care, and other violations against detainees, particularly prisoners suffering from chronic illnesses.
