Hamdi, a former coach of USM Alger, Nahdat Berkane, Al-Salmiya SC, CS Constantine, JS Kabylie, Al-Khaldiya SC, and Young Africans SC had a recent experience in the Egyptian Premier league. He coached Ismaily from July 2025 until his departure on 24 January, following a series of poor results.
The 55-year-old then took charge of Ittihad in April, succeeding Tamer Mostafa.
During his brief spell, the Algerian tactician guided the coastal side in 10 matches, recording three wins, four draws, and three defeats.
Ittihad finished the Egyptian League season in 10th place in the relegation-avoidance group with 36 points, four points clear of 11th-placed Kahrabaa Ismailia, who were already relegated to the second-tier League.
The club has yet to announce a successor.
