Algerian striker Mounder Temine broke the deadlock in the 39th minute, converting a penalty he had won himself to send Masry into the break in front. After the restart, as Enppi pressed high, Masry struck twice on the counter-attack.
Hassan Ali doubled the lead in the 53rd minute, beating the goalkeeper after being set up by Temine, before Omar El Saaiy completed the scoring in the 91st minute following another swift move.
The victory marks Masry’s first trophy since their 1998 Egypt Cup triumph, their only major honour in modern history. They came close again in 2017 but lost to Al Ahly in the Egypt Cup final.
The win is a milestone for coach Emad El-Nahhas, who took over in April after Tunisian Nabil Kouki departed following a run of poor results that ended the club’s Confederation Cup campaign and dashed hopes of continental football next season.
In eight matches under El-Nahhas, Masry recorded four wins, two defeats and two draws.
El-Nahhas, who also won the Egyptian Premier League title as interim coach of Ahly last season, has quickly won over supporters and the board as he looks to build on the success next season.
