The ministry said the action followed a surprise inspection by the Free Treatment Licensing Department in Giza, in coordination with the Egyptian Drug Authority (EDA), as part of wider efforts to tighten oversight on private medical facilities.
According to ministry spokesperson Hossam Abdel-Ghaffar, inspectors found the clinic operating without a licence in violation of Law No. 135 of 2004 regulating medical establishments. The inspection also revealed that a pharmacist was examining patients while falsely claiming to be a physician.
A report was filed for impersonating a doctor, and quantities of unidentified medicines were seized, the spokesperson added.
Hisham Zaki, head of the Central Administration for Non-Governmental Medical Institutions and Licensing, said the clinic was immediately sealed with red wax and administratively closed upon completion of the inspection report, while all legal cases were referred to the Public Prosecution.
The ministry warned citizens against dealing with unlicensed medical facilities, urging them to verify the official credentials of healthcare providers before undergoing any examination or treatment.
It said inspection campaigns will continue nationwide to detect violations and protect patient safety.
