Alice in Wonderland – ballet

Presented by Slimnastics, one of Egypt's ballet academies, Alice in Wonderland is their major annual ballet production yet.
This children’s tale follows a young girl named Alice who falls down a rabbit hole into a fantastical world.
As she navigates a series of encounters with strange characters, Alice must question the rules of the world around her if she hopes to escape.
AUC Alumni Folklore Group – dance

This dance troupe aims to preserve Egyptian folklore dance. Originally, it included different generations of graduates of the American University in Cairo (AUC). Recently, however, the troupe has opened its doors to dancers who are not AUC graduates. Pinky Selim, the group's founder, is also its choreographer.
This week, the troupe presents its eighth show, titled Art Revival: Colors from Egypt.

Directed by Ahmed Elbohy, Friday is a large-scale immersive musical production that invites audiences to the refined atmosphere of 1940s London through a richly detailed theatrical setting.
Featuring a cast of more than 200 performers and an impressive custom-designed stage, the production creates an engaging world where spectators become part of the spectacle.
Abol7sn – music

Youssef Abouelhassan, also known as Abol7sn, is an independent Egyptian singer-songwriter whose music blends acoustic, indie, and alternative sounds with Arabic lyrics.
In 2023, he released his debut EP, Shouf Al-Noor (See the Light), and has since released a few singles.
Side Effect – theatre

Written by Mohamed Al-Souri, this theatre play explores the complex psychological toll of paternal authority on the youth. It also questions how authority, whether that of the father at home or the teacher at school, shapes a child’s psyche.
The performance uses innovative scenography, featuring moving frames on stage, to visually represent the passage of time and the rigid boundaries imposed on individuals by societal institutions.

Saad El-Oud – music

An Egyptian oud virtuoso and contemporary folk artist, Saad El-Oud reinvents traditional Egyptian music through dynamic, live performances that emphasize audience engagement and participation.
His concerts often move beyond the boundaries of conventional shows, encouraging collective singing to create a shared atmosphere.
In recent years, he has cultivated a fan base across Egypt and the Gulf, performing at venues ranging from the Cairo Opera House to independent cultural spaces and regional festivals. His work presents classic sounds in a contemporary and emotionally resonant style, appealing to younger generations while remaining faithful to the essence of traditional instrumentation.
Ghassan Yammine - music

Ghassan Yammine is an award-winning Lebanese singer, pianist, songwriter, and composer.
He founded and serves as general director of a network of arts schools across Lebanon affiliated with leading European and American institutions.
He has performed widely across the Arab World, Europe, Africa, and North America.
His honours include the National Order of the Lebanese Cedar, the Lebanese Presidency Medal, and France’s Gold Medal of Honour for Arts, Science and Literature.
Ballet selections
16, 17, 18, 19 June - 7.30pm
Cairo Opera House, Main Hall, Zamalek, Cairo
The evening will feature Osiris ballet, followed by Danses qu’on Croise, and topped with segments from Prince Igor.
The Cairo Opera Ballet Company, with artistic director Erminia Kamel, will perform the ballets as the company closes the 2025-2026 season.
The ballets are accompanied by the Cairo Opera Orchestra, conducted by Mohamed Saad Basha.
