The achievement was marked during a visit by Egypt’s First Lady, Entissar El-Sisi, to volunteers of the Egyptian Red Crescent (ERC), the national coordination body for aid delivery to Gaza, on Wednesday.
In a post on her official Facebook page, the First Lady praised the efforts of the ERC’s volunteers.
“It was a true pleasure to meet with our volunteers from the Egyptian Red Crescent today. Together, we witnessed the moment humanitarian aid sent from Egypt to the Gaza Strip reached one million tons. My deepest appreciation goes out to every hand that extended help and to every sincere effort dedicated to serving humanity.”
The Egyptian humanitarian assistance to Gaza, which represents around 70 percent of all aid sent to the strip, comes as part of Cairo's unwavering commitment to alleviating the suffering of the Palestinian people amidst the Israeli genocidal war.
The ERC’s aid convoys carried food parcels, flour, clean water, fuel trucks, baby formula, relief materials, medical supplies, winter clothing, tents, and personal hygiene items.
Supported by the efforts of over 65,000 volunteers, Egypt has also received hundreds of Palestinian wounded and patients from Gaza to receive treatment, the latest of which was the 50th batch that arrived through the Rafah border crossing on Thursday.
Egypt has also played, along with regional partners, a central mediating role in efforts to secure and sustain the Gaza ceasefire deal that was signed during the Sharm El-Sheikh Summit for Peace in October 2025, despite repeated Israeli violations.
