Ambassador of Sweden to Egypt Dag Juhlin‑Dannfelt celebrates Sweden Day 2026 in Cairo
The event, held at the Swedish ambassador's residence in Zamalek on 10 June, brought together Egyptian officials, diplomats and representatives of Swedish companies operating in Egypt.
Health Minister Khaled Abdel Ghaffar attended as guest of honour, representing Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly and the Egyptian government.
Speaking at the event, Swedish Ambassador Dag Juhlin-Dannfelt said the celebration, held under the theme of Swedish Midsummer, reflected values associated with Sweden and its engagement with international partners.
"Midsummer is a celebration of light, renewal, and togetherness, these values guide Sweden's engagement with the world. They shape how we work for democracy, equality, and sustainable development, at home and with our partners abroad," he said.

The ambassador said Swedish companies in Egypt embodied the country's approach to innovation and expressed support for further cooperation with Egyptian partners in sectors including clean energy, sustainable transport, digitalization, and healthcare.
Abdel Ghaffar said bilateral relations had gained momentum in recent years across several sectors.
"This progress has been driven by joint efforts to enhance trade exchange, attract investment, and support Egypt's Vision 2030 for sustainable development," he said.
He also pointed to cooperation in advanced technology, renewable energy, industrial localization and capacity building, saying Egypt was seeking to expand collaboration in public-private partnerships, green transition projects, innovation and scientific research.

As part of the celebrations, 19 Swedish companies showcased their products and services at an exhibition held alongside the reception.
Sweden marks its National Day annually on 6 June, commemorating the election of Gustav Vasa as king in 1523 and the adoption of a new constitution in 1809.
Egypt and Sweden have expanded cooperation in recent years, particularly in renewable energy, healthcare, digitalization, and sustainable development.
