The tour also included a review of the government's ongoing plan to revive the historic city of Rashid.
Madbouly inspected work on the International Coastal Road, an 800-kilometres corridor stretching from Port Said to Salloum that connects Egypt's Mediterranean ports and passes through seven governorates. The route links several industrial zones and new urban communities, including New Damietta, New Mansoura and New Rashid.
Officials briefed the prime minister on progress on a 13-kilometres section in Beheira between the Cairo-Alexandria Agricultural Road and the Cairo-Alexandria Desert Road, where authorities are expanding the highway to six lanes in each direction. The broader project includes dedicated truck lanes and the construction of 23 overpasses aimed at improving traffic flow and road safety.
Authorities are also upgrading a 64-kilometres stretch between Damietta and Baltim via Gamasa and New Mansoura, while rehabilitation and expansion work continues on sections further west towards Salloum.
Madbouly also reviewed work on the 4.5-kilometres Service Road and the 10-kilometres Companies Road in Edco.
The Service Road runs parallel to the International Coastal Road and serves as a main access route to Edco and nearby development and tourism projects. The Companies Road links Edco with Rashid and serves several economic facilities, including petroleum sites, New Rashid City and Rashid University.
During the visit, Madbouly inspected natural gas production facilities in the Deepwater West Delta area operated by Rashid Petroleum Company (Rashpetco).
Petroleum Minister Karim Badawi said the government had cleared outstanding payments owed to foreign partners on 10 June and introduced measures aimed at encouraging new investment and increasing production.
Earlier in the day, the prime minister visited Edco International Park, where he reviewed a summer programme offering educational, cultural and sports activities for children and young people.
"Building the Egyptian individual remains at the heart of the state's development strategy," Madbouly said, stressing the importance of investing in youth and equipping future generations with the skills needed to innovate and contribute to national development.
According to Beheira Governor Jacqueline Azer, the programme includes workshops on robotics, digital technologies, agriculture, handicrafts, storytelling and reading, alongside sports activities such as kung fu and karate.
The park, developed with funding from the European Union (EU) and the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ), spans 10,500 square metres and includes recreational facilities and green spaces.
