The inaugural flight departed on Saturday carrying around 180 passengers, according to the airline.
The service will operate twice a week on Thursdays and Saturdays, providing a direct connection for travellers from Alexandria, the North Coast, and the Nile Delta region to the Saudi capital.
Hussein Sherif, chairman and chief executive of Air Cairo, said the airline expected passenger traffic on the route to increase in the coming months, which could lead to additional frequencies.
He said the company may gradually expand the service to daily flights depending on demand.
The Alexandria-Riyadh route is the latest addition to Air Cairo's network in Saudi Arabia, which the airline considers one of its key markets.
Air Cairo is an Egyptian low-cost airline and a subsidiary of the national carrier EgyptAir. It has been expanding its regional and international network in recent years as it seeks to increase connectivity with major destinations and cater to growing demand for tourism, business travel, and Egyptian communities abroad
