The two ministers welcomed the agreement reached between Washington and Tehran, expressing appreciation for Egypt's role over recent months in supporting efforts that led to the deal, in close coordination with regional and international partners.
They said they hoped the agreement would foster a more conducive environment for dialogue and open a new chapter that would help strengthen security and stability across the Middle East, according to the statement.
The calls came a few hours after Pakistan announced that the United States and Iran had reached a peace agreement aimed at ending months of regional conflict and military escalation.
Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said an official signing ceremony would be held in Switzerland on 19 June, while US President Donald Trump confirmed that a deal had been completed and announced the lifting of US naval restrictions in the Strait of Hormuz.
Iran later confirmed the agreement, with Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi saying in televised remarks early on Monday that the deal with the United States had brought an "immediate end" to the war between the two countries.
"A permanent and immediate end to the war has been declared on all fronts, including Lebanon," Gharibabadi said, adding that negotiations on a final agreement would continue during 60 days leading up to the planned signing ceremony.
Egypt has maintained intensive diplomatic contacts throughout the crisis, engaging with regional and international parties to support efforts to de-escalate tensions and prevent a broader conflict in the Middle East.
Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty has held a series of consultations in recent weeks with his Iranian, Pakistani, Gulf, European, and US counterparts as Cairo sought to revive diplomatic channels and encourage a negotiated settlement.
On Friday, Abdelatty discussed the latest developments in the US-Iran talks with both the Pakistani and Iranian foreign ministers amid growing signs that negotiations were approaching a breakthrough.
Egypt has consistently warned that continued military escalation threatened regional security, international shipping routes, and global energy markets.
