Araghchi, who initiated the call, expressed appreciation for Egypt's intensive efforts in recent months, including high-level contacts aimed at bridging differences during negotiations, overcoming obstacles, and encouraging the parties to reach an agreement that would end the war between the United States and Iran, according to the ministry.
The Iranian minister said his country looked to Egypt to continue playing a constructive role in supporting the agreement, ensuring its implementation, and helping carry out its provisions as a step toward reaching a final settlement between the two sides.
The ministers also reviewed the main elements of the agreement that ended the war between Washington and Tehran and discussed efforts to end hostilities on all fronts, including in Lebanon, in a way that preserves the country's sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity.
FM Abdelatty welcomed the agreement, expressing hope that it would represent a genuine turning point toward restoring security and stability across the Middle East.
He stated that Egypt would continue its diplomatic efforts to promote regional peace and stability and reiterated Cairo's full support for Lebanon amid the challenges it faces.
The Egyptian foreign minister stressed the importance of a complete Israeli withdrawal from all Lebanese territory, strengthening and empowering Lebanese state institutions, enabling the state to exercise full sovereignty, and ensuring that arms remain exclusively under state authority.
The call came hours after Egypt welcomed the US-Iran agreement, describing it as a significant step toward restoring regional stability and advancing diplomatic efforts to resolve conflicts across the Middle East.
Iran said earlier on Monday that the agreement with the United States had brought an end to the war between the two countries. Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi said a "permanent and immediate end to the war has been declared on all fronts, including Lebanon."
Egypt has maintained contacts with both Washington and Tehran throughout the crisis, with President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi and FM Abdelatty holding a series of consultations with regional and international partners to prevent further escalation and restore regional stability.
The agreement is expected to ease tensions across several regional flashpoints, particularly Lebanon, where concerns had grown that the conflict could spill over and further destabilize the country.
