In a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Tuesday, Egypt said the planned diplomatic mission in the northwestern Somali region would constitute a flagrant breach of international law and UN resolutions concerning the legal status of Jerusalem.
Egypt also warned that the move would directly affect the city's historical and legal standing.
Cairo reiterated its complete rejection of any unilateral measures aimed at imposing a new legal or political reality in occupied Jerusalem, stressing that such actions violate international law and relevant UN resolutions.
The statement reaffirmed Egypt's position that East Jerusalem is occupied Palestinian territory and forms an integral part of the Palestinian territories occupied since 5 June 1967.
It added that any steps intended to alter the city's legal or historical status are "null and void” and carry no legal effect.
Egypt also renewed its support for the unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity of the Federal Republic of Somalia, rejecting any unilateral actions that could undermine the unity of Somali territory or detract from its sovereignty.
In December, Israel became the first country to recognize the independence of Somaliland since it declared its autonomy from Somalia in 1991, following a civil war.
On Sunday, Somaliland's President Abdirahman Mohamed Abdullahi met his Israeli counterpart on Sunday in Jerusalem in his first-ever state visit, which comes months after Israel officially recognized the breakaway African state.
The visit comes just weeks after Israel appointed its first ambassador to Somaliland, a reciprocal move after Somaliland named its own envoy to Israel.
Egypt has consistently backed Somalia's sovereignty and territorial integrity while opposing measures it views as threatening regional stability.
