The defect in the fuel tank ventilation system, known as the canister, may prevent the fuel tank from being filled, cause irregular fuel consumption, or lead to deformation of the fuel tank from underneath, the agency said in a statement.
The CPA urged owners of affected vehicles to visit authorized service centers nationwide for free inspections and repairs, stressing that consumers will not bear any costs associated with the recall.
Auto Mobility said the campaign forms part of precautionary measures aimed at maintaining vehicle quality and safety standards and is being carried out in coordination with the Consumer Protection Agency.
CPA Chairman Ibrahim El-Seginy said the agency had received an official notification from the company regarding the manufacturing defect and the corrective measures required to address it.
"The company has initiated recall procedures for the affected vehicles and provided all technical details and approved corrective actions," El-Seginy said, adding that the move was intended to ensure a swift response and protect consumer safety.
Owners can arrange service appointments through the company's hotline, 16402, to facilitate inspections and repairs at authorized centers across Egypt.
The Consumer Protection Agency said it would continue to monitor product safety issues and enforce the provisions of Consumer Protection Law No. 181 of 2018, which requires suppliers to report potential product risks and implement corrective measures when defects are identified.
In March, Ezz Elarab Automotive and Al-Mansour Automotive, in coordination with CPA, launched a recall campaign for several vehicle models to replace potentially defective Takata airbags.
The recall covers Jeep, Dodge, and Chrysler vehicles manufactured between 2003 and 2016 and distributed by Ezz Elarab Automotive, as well as Opel vehicles manufactured between 2007 and 2019 and distributed by Al-Mansour Automotive.
The agency said the defect could affect airbag performance and, in some cases, cause the airbag inflator to rupture during deployment, potentially resulting in serious injuries or death.
