Serbian PM visits Grand Egyptian Museum

Serbian Prime Minister Đuro Macut toured on Wednesday the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM), including visits to the outdoor plaza, the Grand Hall, the Grand Stairs, and the Main Galleries, according to the Egyptian Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities’ statement.

Accompanied by CEO of the GEM Authority Ahmed Ghoneim, Macut also toured the Tutankhamun Galleries, where the king’s complete collection are being displayed together in one place for the first time.

The Serbian PM also visited the Khufu's Boats Museum, where the first and second solar boats are showcased through a modern interactive exhibition.

Macut and his delegation expressed great admiration for the museum’s outstanding archaeological collections for the museum’s treasures and praised the excellence of its exhibition narrative and the modern presentation techniques employed throughout the museum.

The Serbian PM’s visit to the GEM took place on the sidelines of his visit to Cairo, which included meetings with Egypt’s Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly and Tourism Minister Sherif Fathy.

Inaugurated in November 2025, the GEM is the largest museum in the world dedicated to a single civilisation: ancient Egypt.

Located near the iconic Pyramids of Giza, the museum displays thousands of priceless artefacts, including the entire collection of more than 5,000 pieces from the tomb of Tutankhamun, shown together for the first time in a single hall.
