Originally launched in France in 1982, Fête de la Musique is celebrated annually around 21 June in more than 100 countries.
In Egypt, recent editions have evolved into a large free public festival combining live music with environmental and sustainability themes.
This year, the lineup highlights include Habibi Funk, Nour LeQ, RIFF, Nagham Saleh, Ali Refai, Brame de Zéphyr.
Ballet selections
Last days: Thursday 18, Friday 19 June, 7.30pm
Cairo Opera House, Main Hall, Zamalek, Cairo
The evenings feature Osiris ballet, followed by Danses qu’on Croise, and topped with segments from Prince Igor.
The Cairo Opera Ballet Company, with artistic director Erminia Kamel, performs the ballets as the company closes the 2025-2026 season.
The ballets are accompanied by the Cairo Opera Orchestra, conducted by Mohamed Saad Basha.
International Festival of Drum and Heritage Arts
Several Venues across Cairo
19-23 June
Cairo will transform into a vast open-air stage, where streets and historic landmarks come alive with the sounds of the 12th International Festival of Drums and Traditional Arts.
The festivities will take place at the Cairo Citadel (Saladin), along the historic Al-Moez Street in the heart of Fatimid Cairo, at Al-Hanager Square within the Cairo Opera House, as well as at the Northern Wall Theatre (Al-Sour Al-Shamali), Bayt Al-Sinnari in the popular district of Sayeda Zeinab, and Amir Taz Palace.
Across these heritage-rich venues, audiences will experience traditional dances, folk music, and dynamic performances reflecting the cultural diversity of participating countries.

El-Hadra Troupe - music

River hall, El-Sawy Culturewheel, 26th of July street, Zamalek, Cairo
Composed of vocalists and chanters, El Hadra presents a spiritual state of religious hymns and praise.
Founded by Nour Nageh, the troupe performs their renditions of classical standard Arabic Sufi poems of Sufi sheikhs explaining love of Allah and Prophet’s praise.
Cassette 90 band - music
Friday 19 June, 8pm
El-Sawy Culturewheel, Wisdom Hall, 26th of July street, Zamalek, Cairo
Cassette 90 is a band providing a highly successful series of nostalgia concerts.
The band consists of 8 musicians who revive the songs of the 1990s, including songs by Egyptian singer Mostafa Amar, Hisham Abbas, Alaa Abdelkhalek, and Ehab Tafwik.
Ghassan Yammine - music

Ghassan Yammine is an award-winning Lebanese singer, pianist, songwriter, and composer.
He founded and serves as general director of a network of arts schools across Lebanon affiliated with leading European and American institutions.
He has performed widely across the Arab World, Europe, Africa, and North America.
His honours include the National Order of the Lebanese Cedar, the Lebanese Presidency Medal, and France’s Gold Medal of Honour for Arts, Science and Literature.
Mazeek and Black Theama - music

The night will celebrate the richness of African musical traditions reimagined through contemporary sounds.
The event will fuse Afrobeat, Nubian rhythms, soul, funk, and reggae, drawing inspiration from the musical heritage of Egypt, Sudan, and North Africa.
Medhat Saleh - music

One of Egypt's most popular singers, Saleh has a wide collection of famous songs, such as Kawkab Tany (Another Planet), Wala Teswa Domoe (Not Worth the Tears), and El-Donia Alemetny (Life Taught Me), as well as dozens of film scores including Mafia, El-Beliatsho (The Clown) and Amir El-Zalam (Prince of Darkness), to name but a few.
He has released numerous albums and starred in several films, TV series and plays.
Ali El-Haggar - music

During the two performances, the veteran Egyptian singer Ali El Haggar will take audiences on a nostalgic musical journey with a selection of his most beloved songs.
Revered for his powerful voice and emotionally resonant performances, El Haggar remains one of the Arab world’s most respected artists, with a repertoire that has touched generations of listeners.
His songs carry lyrics drawn from the poetry of Salah Jahin, Abdel-Rahman El-Abnoudy and Sayed Hegab to music by the country's most renowned composers such as Baligh Hamdy, Sayed Mekkawy, Omar Khairat, among others.
Some of his most popular hits are Arfa (Do You Know), Hona Al-Qahera (Here is Cairo), and Dehket Al-Masageen (The Prisoners’ Laughter).
