“The Egyptian forward will join the club on a permanent basis and will sign a contract for the next three seasons, until 30 June 2029,” reads a statement on Barcelona’s official website on Tuesday.
The 18-year old Hamza, currently on loan from Ahly until the end of the season, has made a strong impression since joining FC Barcelona's reserve side, Barça Atlètic, in January.
No financial details have been disclosed but media reports suggest the deal is worth $1.5 million in addition to other benefits. Ahly would also receive 15% in case of a futur transfer.
Abdelkarim, the first ever Egyptian player to join the Spanish giants, quickly adapted with the new team, netting six goals in 11 matches.
He scored a hat-trick in the 9-0 thrashing of Montecarlo on the day the team secured the División de Honor league title and also featured in two Copa del Rey matches, a competition in which Barca finished as runners-up.
The quick and impressive impact of Abdelkarim grabbed the attention of Egypt coach Hossam Hassan who called him up to join the national team for the first time ever ahead of the current World Cup.
Hamza is the youngest member of Egypt's World Cup squad and he has already featured in both the 1-1 draw with Belgium and the 3-1 win over New Zealand.
