The operation, valued at approximately EGP 40 billion, is part of a sustained campaign to secure national borders and combat cross-border criminal activity.
According to a statement by the Egyptian Armed Forces released on Tuesday, the Border Guard Forces, in coordination with the military's main branches and field formations, continue to secure Egypt's land and coastal borders across all strategic directions using an integrated security system supported by advanced surveillance, detection, and communication technologies.
The forces rely on professional combat personnel equipped with modern weapons, four-wheel-drive vehicles, coastal patrol boats, X-ray inspection systems, and specially trained detection dogs to counter smuggling and illegal infiltration activities.
During recent operations, border guards recorded 33 weapons and ammunition-related cases, seizing 96 firearms of various types and approximately 3,600 rounds of ammunition.
In anti-narcotics operations, authorities foiled 79 smuggling attempts, confiscating around 351 tons of various narcotic substances, approximately 750,000 narcotic pills, and five tons of crushed hydroponic cannabis ("hydro").
Security forces also dismantled and destroyed a number of illicit drug plantations.
The statement added that 168 cases involving goods that had evaded customs duties were uncovered. Seized items included nearly 50 tons of petroleum products, more than 500,000 cartons of cigarettes, and large quantities of miscellaneous goods with an estimated value of EGP 1 billion.
Border guards also intensified efforts against illegal gold prospecting, recording 58 cases. Authorities confiscated 20 metal detectors, 200 drilling hammers, 118 power generators, and approximately 86 tons of ore-bearing rocks mixed with gold.
In addition, security forces seized 500 vehicles of various types and thwarted 115 illegal infiltration and migration attempts.
The military said that 99,886 individuals of various nationalities were apprehended while attempting to cross Egypt's borders illegally across different strategic directions.
All cases have been referred to the relevant authorities for legal action.
The Armed Forces said the results reflect the intensive round-the-clock efforts undertaken by the Border Guard Forces to maintain security and tighten control over Egypt's border crossings and strategic frontiers.
