During the celebration held at his residence on Tuesday, Ambassador Chevallier said the recent visit of French President Emmanuel Macron to Alexandria in May had strongly affirmed this fact, as France and Egypt share a historical and strategic relationship.
This partnership has been further strengthened in a regional context where dialogue and stability have become more crucial than ever, he added.
The ambassador said that within the bilateral relationship, the AFD, as one of the key institutions representing Team France, plays a significant role.
Since 2006, the AFD Group has been Egypt's leading bilateral development partner. Above all, the group supports Egypt's development priorities through practical projects and initiatives.
Chevallier said he had witnessed this firsthand through the many projects and teams he had visited across the country over the past three years.
These include the tangible impacts in the transport sector, particularly here in Cairo, through projects that improve the daily commutes of millions of Egyptians.
Other projects focus on water and sanitation through the modernization of essential infrastructure.
The ambassador also highlighted progress in the health sector through support for the reform of the comprehensive health insurance system, which already benefits millions of families.
In addition, he pointed to projects in education, employment, and entrepreneurship through support for the French University in Egypt, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), and efforts to promote the inclusion of women and young people in the workforce, with a particular focus on innovation.
Chevallier said this cooperation is reflected in around 50 ongoing projects and noted that none of these achievements would have been possible without the commitment of Egyptian partners over the past 20 years.
"These successes are not solely the achievements of France or the French Development Agency, but first and foremost the achievements of our partners, many of whom we are honoured to have with us this evening," he stated.
The anniversary, he added, provides an opportunity to reflect on what has been achieved through this joint effort for the benefit of Egyptians and in support of shared interests.
The ambassador also announced that a photographic exhibition will be inaugurated, telling a profound human story, the story of people whose lives have been transformed by these projects, which have become a tangible reality.
"These twenty years do not represent the end of a partnership, but rather the beginning of a new chapter," he said.
Chevallier said this new phase was highlighted by the Africa Forward Summit held in Nairobi a few weeks ago, co-organized by Kenya and France and attended by President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi.
The next chapter should be built on an equitable partnership focused on investment, innovation, youth empowerment, and joint solutions to the major challenges of the 21st century, he concluded.
