The ministry described the attacks as “a clear violation” of the sovereignty of Kuwait and Bahrain, a threat to their security and stability, and an unacceptable escalation that undermines efforts to restore calm and reduce tensions in the region.
Egypt affirmed its full support for all measures taken by Kuwait and Bahrain to safeguard their security and stability, the statement added.
Cairo also stressed the need to preserve the current negotiating track, support serious efforts to de-escalate regional tensions, and resolve disputes through dialogue and peaceful means in ways that strengthen regional security and stability.
The statement comes amid renewed military exchanges between the United States and Iran despite efforts to keep a fragile negotiating track alive.
Iran’s Revolutionary Guard launched on Sunday drone and missile attacks targeting Bahrain and Kuwait in response to US airstrikes on Iran, while warning that talks to end the war could face a “complete halt” if Washington continues its attacks.
The latest escalation followed US claims that Iran attacked commercial shipping near the Strait of Hormuz.
US Central Command said it struck Iranian missile and drone storage sites, coastal radar positions, surveillance infrastructure, communication systems, air defence sites, and minelayer capabilities after an attack on a ship at sea.
The Strait of Hormuz normally carries around one-fifth of the world's oil and gas exports. Iran has warned vessels not to enter or leave the Gulf through the strait without its permission.
Egypt has repeatedly linked attacks on Gulf Arab states to broader Arab national security.
On Saturday, Cairo condemned Iranian drone attacks on Bahrain, saying they violated Bahrain’s sovereignty, threatened its security and stability, and undermined regional de-escalation efforts.
The latest statement also reflects Egypt's broader diplomatic coordination with its Gulf partners.
In separate calls with his Qatari and Saudi counterparts on Saturday, Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty stressed the importance of building on the US-Iran memorandum of understanding, reducing tensions, ensuring freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, and avoiding unilateral measures that could disrupt international shipping and global trade.
