The accreditation assesses airports' preparedness for public health emergencies and their compliance with international health and safety standards.
The holding company said Cairo International Airport remains the only airport in Africa to hold the accreditation under ACI's updated standards.
Ayman Fawzy Arab, chairman of the Egyptian Holding Company for Airports and Air Navigation, said the renewal followed the airport's compliance with the programme's technical and operational requirements and formed part of broader efforts to improve operational performance.
According to the company, ACI World said Cairo International Airport had implemented health measures consistent with guidance issued by the Airports Council International and the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).
The accreditation programme, developed in line with guidance from ICAO and the World Health Organization, evaluates airports' preparedness for future public health events and provides recommendations to strengthen operational resilience.
The renewal comes as Egypt seeks to expand its aviation sector and position Cairo as a regional aviation and transit hub.
According to a cabinet report, Egyptian airports handled 70,700 flights and 9.4 million passengers during the first four months of 2026, up 7.4 percent and 6.8 percent, respectively, from the same period a year earlier.
Cairo International Airport handled more than 8 million passengers in the first quarter of 2026, a 9 percent year-on-year increase. In 2024, the airport served 27.7 million passengers and handled 211,600 flights, making it Egypt's busiest airport.
The airport is also undergoing a major expansion that includes the construction of Terminal 4, which is expected to increase annual passenger capacity from more than 30 million to more than 60 million.
