Speaking during a meeting of the House of Representatives' Media and Culture Committee, chaired by MP Soraya El-Badawy, Rashwan dismissed the reports that went viral in the past 12 hours, saying that "some colleagues may wish or expect" such appointments, but that no decisions have been made.
The purported list included several well-known Egyptian media figures, fueling widespread speculation before the minister dismissed the reports as inaccurate.
He explained that the Ministry of State for Information is being established from scratch, noting that it initially had no headquarters, employees, budget, or accounting unit.
Rashwan added that, until 1 July, the ministry remains administratively affiliated with the cabinet, reflecting its ongoing institutional establishment phase.
He also criticized the reports on the alleged appointments, saying they were published without any attempt to contact the ministry to verify their accuracy.
The minister urged media outlets to exercise accuracy and rely on official sources before publishing such information.
