The two-volume publication brings together documented testimonies and archival material compiled by a distinguished group of Egyptian writers, intellectuals, and public figures, presenting what the NPA describes as an account of the foundations of Egypt’s New Republic.
Speaking at the launch ceremony, NPA Chairman Abdel Sadeq El-Shorbagy described the 30 June Revolution as “a defining moment in the nation’s history” that enabled the Egyptian state to reclaim its identity and reaffirm the people’s determination to build the future.
“The 30 June Revolution marked a turning point that restored the Egyptian state’s identity and consolidated the will of its people to build the future,” El-Shorbagy said.
Journalist Hamdy Rizk, the book’s editor, said the title Man of Destiny accurately reflected the substance of the work, noting that the expression is well established in Arabic literature and captures the exceptional nature of the period documented in the publication.
Rizk said President El-Sisi neither sought office nor personal prestige but assumed responsibility for leading the country during one of the most challenging periods in Egypt’s modern history.
He added that the book documents that era through verified testimonies and documentary evidence.
He described the publication as “an exceptional documentary work” that combines testimonies, interviews, and historical documents, noting that many of the testimonies were recorded and preserved in both audio and video formats, enhancing the book’s historical and archival value.
Rizk said the first volume opens with a foreword by former Interim President Adly Mansour, highlighting key aspects of President El-Sisi’s character and leadership, while the second volume features an introduction by Pope Tawadros II focusing on national unity, citizenship, and solidarity.
The book also examines the internal challenges confronting the Egyptian state, particularly the fight against terrorism, through a chapter written by veteran journalist Adel Hamouda based on testimonies from senior officials, including former Defence Minister Sedky Sobhy and Presidential Adviser Faiza Aboul Naga.
According to the National Press Authority, the publication was prepared by a group of leading Egyptian writers and documents President El-Sisi’s leadership through verified testimonies from national figures who participated in one of the most critical periods in Egypt’s recent history.
The work also includes contributions from prominent public intellectuals and cultural figures, including former Minister of Culture Helmy El-Namnam, writer Mohamed Salmawy, and theatre director Khaled Galal.
The launch ceremony was attended by Deputy Prime Minister for Industrial Development and Minister of Transport Kamel El-Wazir, Minister of Foreign Affairs Badr Abdelatty, Minister of Social Solidarity Maya Morsy, Minister of Parliamentary and Legal Affairs Hany El-Gebaly, Minister of Health and Population Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Karim Badawi, Minister of Justice Mahmoud El-Sherif, Cairo Governor Ibrahim Saber, Minister of Education Mohamed Abdel Latif, Al-Ahram Chairman Mohamed Fayez Farahat, NPA Deputy Chairman Alaa Thabet, members of the National Press Authority, and a large number of chairmen and editors-in-chief of Egypt’s national press institutions.
