The schools, established in cooperation with Italy’s ITSAgro Academy, aim to prepare qualified technical and technological cadres in line with international standards to support Egypt’s major agricultural and production projects, the two sides said in a joint statement.
The new schools will be launched in Giza, Menoufiya, Beheira, Alexandria, Gharbiya, Qalyubia, Sharqiya, Dakahliya, Ismailia, Fayoum, Beni Suef, Minya, Luxor, and Aswan.
They will offer eight modern agricultural and technological specializations: agriculture and irrigation, livestock and poultry production, plant production, food processing, beekeeping, honey production and sericulture, agricultural engineering, fisheries, and laboratory technician training.
The schools will combine classroom education with practical training inside projects affiliated with the Future of Egypt Authority for Sustainable Development, giving students direct exposure to production sites and modern agricultural technologies.
According to the statement, the model is designed to provide students with pathways either to continue university studies or enter the labour market directly after graduation.
The launch is part of Egypt’s wider push to overhaul technical education by linking curricula to labour-market needs, expanding practical training, and building partnerships with international technical institutions and the private sector.
The 26-school programme also falls under a broader Egypt-Italy technical education package signed in Cairo in November 2025 to establish 89 Applied Technology Schools across industrial and service specializations.
Under that package, the Ministry of Education signed 18 cooperation protocols with Egyptian ministries, national agencies, private-sector partners, and Italian technical institutes. The Future of Egypt component covers 26 schools in irrigation technology and modern agriculture.
Other protocols under the wider package include schools in water and irrigation technology, agricultural and food production management, pharmaceutical and chemical industries, hospitality, engineering industries, steel, sustainable transport and logistics, textiles, metals, and ready-made garments.
Italian sources said ITSAgro is among the five Italian higher technical institutes involved in the Egypt-Italy school cooperation framework. The academy’s role includes supporting curriculum design, training Egyptian teachers, establishing technical laboratories based on the Italian model, and introducing skills in agritech, resource management, sustainability, and supply chain digitalization.
The partnership comes as the Future of Egypt Authority plays an expanding role in Egypt’s food-security and agricultural development plans. The Future of Egypt sustainable agriculture project is part of the New Delta project and targets the reclamation of 1.05 million feddans out of the New Delta’s total 2.2 million feddans.
The project includes irrigation networks, greenhouses, crop production, sorting and packing stations, grain silos, seed production, soil and plant-disease laboratories, food-processing facilities, livestock feed production, and livestock farms.
Officials say linking the schools to production projects will help reduce the gap between technical education and labour-market needs by giving students practical experience in agriculture, food production, animal production, food processing, fisheries, and laboratory work.
