Metwally and Shafika - theatre play

Based on one of Upper Egypt's most enduring folk tales, Metwally and Shafika revisits the tragic story of two siblings whose lives are torn apart by love, betrayal, and the rigid codes of honour.
Set in the city of Girga in Sohag Governorate, the play follows Metwally as he returns home to discover that his sister Chafiqa has been abandoned by Diab, the mayor's son, and ostracised after defying the moral conventions of her community.
As the drama unfolds, the production explores the devastating consequences of social stigma, the conflict between honour and personal freedom, and the human cost of deeply entrenched traditions, offering a contemporary theatrical interpretation of a classic Egyptian folk narrative.
King Lear - theatre play

The famed protagonist of King Lear is portrayed by Yehia El-Fakharany, who has taken this role on his shoulders several times. The first time he portrayed King Lear on the National Theatre stage was back in 2001. The play featured Egypt's renowned actors, including Sawsan Badr, Farouk El-Fishawy (1952–2019) and Ashraf Abdel Ghafour (1942–2023), Salwa Mohamed Ali, Rania Farid Shawky, and Ahmed Fouad Selim, among others.
This time, the play is directed by Shadi Sorour and besides El-Fakharany, it also features actors Tarek El-Desouky, Hassan Youssef, Mohamed El-Ezayzi, Eman Ragaa, Amal Abdallah, Ahmed El-Nasser, Islam Abbas, Diaa Shafik, Hamdy Attia.

The Sheikh Imam Lovers Association for Arts and Literature, in collaboration with the Jesuit Association for Development and Culture (Cairo Jesuit), hosts its monthly gathering dedicated to celebrating the enduring legacy of legendary Egyptian singer and composer Sheikh Imam.
Held on the first Friday of every month, the event brings together musicians, researchers, and admirers of Imam's politically charged songs and the poetry of his longtime collaborator Ahmed Fouad Negm for an evening of live music, discussion, and collective remembrance.
Launched six years ago, the gathering has become a recurring platform for preserving and promoting Sheikh Imam's artistic heritage, having previously been hosted at several cultural venues across Cairo before finding its current home at the Cairo Jesuit Cultural Centre.

The evening also features High Dam, which reimagines Nubian folk music through a contemporary musical lens, pairing traditional melodies with modern instrumentation and arrangements.
