Cairo reaffirmed its categorical rejection of all forms of violence and terrorism aimed at undermining security and stability and terrorising innocent civilians.
Egypt further extended its sincere condolences and heartfelt sympathies to Syria, its government and people, and to the families of the victims, while wishing a speedy recovery to all those injured.
Ten people were killed and over 20 others wounded after a bomb went off at a cafe in central Damascus on Thursday, according to Syrian authorities.
The blast, which resulted from an explosive device planted in the location, took place near the capital's Palace of Justice, a key government building, sparking scenes of panic in the busy area, AFP reported.
An AFP correspondent saw ambulances weaving their way through traffic with their sirens blaring as they headed to the site, with security forces cordoning off the area of the blast.
Damascus has been the site of multiple attacks and incidents since the new authorities took over following the toppling of longtime ruler Bashar al-Assad in December 2024.
The deadliest came in June 2025, when an attack on a Damascus church killed 25 people.
