Japanese Ambassador Fumio Iwai visited Galala University to strengthen Egyptian-Japanese academic and cultural cooperation
The visit included a ceremony marking the donation of 172 books from the Nippon Foundation to the university's library and a tour of the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Centre, which was established on campus in partnership with Hiroshima University.
Iwai also toured the university's academic and research facilities during his visit.

"We are proud of our partnership with Hiroshima University, which resulted in the establishment of the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Centre on campus as a platform for promoting the values of peace, tolerance, and intercultural dialogue," Galala University President Mohamed El-Shenawy said.
He said the book donation would strengthen the university's academic resources and broaden students' access to international knowledge.

Speaking during the visit, Iwai said it was his first trip to the university.
"I came today to attend the ceremony marking the donation of 172 books from the Nippon Foundation, and I am also delighted to see the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Centre established through the partnership with Hiroshima University," he said.
The ambassador said the university's campus offered an environment conducive to learning and noted that, despite being established in 2020, it had already graduated students contributing to society.
"I look forward to seeing more Galala University graduates assume leadership roles that contribute to Egypt's future," Iwai said.
The visit comes as Egyptian and Japanese universities continue to expand academic partnerships through research collaboration, student exchanges and joint educational initiatives.
